It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dawn Carole Hunziker, age 84, of Ingleside, Illinois, who passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2026. She was born in Evanston, Illinois, on March 16, 1942, to Roland and Myrtle Hunziker.

Her high school years were marked by her enthusiasm and school spirit. She served as Captain of the Cheerleaders, sang in the chorus all four years, and, during her senior year, was crowned Winter Formal Queen.

Dawn possessed a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She frequently broke into song or dance with her children and nurtured everyone around her by making sure they were well fed. One of her favorite invitations was, “Who wants to go to Dog-n-Suds? My treat!”—a simple offer that brought smiles and created countless cherished memories.

A true beacon of love and happiness, Dawn’s fun-loving personality and joyful spirit will be dearly missed. She always put her family first with unwavering, unconditional love. Though her resources were humble, her generosity was boundless. Rich in spirit, she gave freely to those she loved, always from the deepest part of her heart, exemplifying selfless devotion throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Myrtle Hunziker, and her brother, Jack Hunziker. Dawn is survived by her sister, Diane; her brother, Dennis; and her beloved children, Geoff, Kim (John), Coleen (Ken), and Cole (Elaine). She was a cherished grandmother to Scotty (Mari), Chris (Trish), Cole (Andrea), Samantha (Nick), Greg (Melissa), Meagan, Alyssa, Sara, Zander, Gracie, and Ember, and an adored great-grandmother to Elsie, Emmett, Esmie, Anthony, and Ayla.

A memorial visitation will be held at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Route 83), Lake Villa, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.
