Daniel Joseph Suchanek, of Fox Lake, formerly of Chicago, passed away on September 9, 2013. He was born on January 8, 1943 in Brighton Park in Chicago to Joseph and Wanda (nee Kaleta) Suchanek.

Daniel was a Chicago Police Officer and retired after 24 loyal years. Like many proud Chicagoans, he loved all Chicago teams, especially the Cubs. He was also a proud U.S. Marine. He was an avid reader, history buff, an animal lover and a great storyteller who will deeply missed by his loving wife of 15 years Joyce, nee Cuzas; his daughter, Kristin (Brian) Gembara; his step-children, Corine (Ken) Dugdale,Peter (Lynn) Koclanis and Sharon (Bob) Murray; his grandchildren Scott, RJ, SarahJane, Ben, John, Nick, Alex and Julia; his mother, Wanda; his siblings, Richard Suchanek and Sandra (Leonard) Sitkowski and by his 3 puppies, Nellie, Max and Sarah. Many other loving relatives and friends also survive.

Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, September 15, from 1 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. celebration of life at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. Fox Lake. Interment will be private.
