Charles C. Palmer, 82, of Fox Lake passed away May 6, 2026, at home. Chuck loved to travel, lately on ocean cruises and European bus tours with his loving wife of 60 years, Pat. He also had a wanderlust that took him on long, solo road trips to see the wonders of the country, from the Badlands of South Dakota to the deserts of Arizona and across the Great Plaines.

Chuck was a longtime fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears but also enjoyed spending summer evenings with Pat at minor league games throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. His passion for baseball and family was also expressed through his many years of coaching his sons and daughters on baseball and softball teams in Deerfield, where they lived for nearly 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he leaves behind five children, Bob (Kim), Rich (Christine), Mary (Mark), Jenny, and Carol (John); five grandchildren, Nick, Rachel (Sam), Noah, George, Anastasia, and Miles; one great-grandchild, Ellory; one sister, Barbara (Bob); and several nieces, nephews, a grandnephew and a grandniece, and dog, Lucy.

Services will be at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (IL Rt. 83), Lake Villa, Thursday, May 14, from 4 pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parks Conservation Association.
