Catherine M. Freund

Catherine M. Freund, a longtime resident of McHenry, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014. She was born on January 2, 1928 in Chicago to Joseph and Catherine (nee Martini) Wagner.

Catherine was an avid fan of Chicago Cubs, Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks and knew the averages of many of the players. She also enjoyed bowling. Catherine will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 64 years, Walter J. Freund of McHenry; her children, Mark (Cynthia) Freund of Texas and Jayne (John) Bennett of Alaska; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and by her sister, Dorothy (Robert) Herrmann of Zion. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim "Cookie" Freund; her brother John and an infant brother, Alexander and by her parents. The family wishes to express appreciation to Catherine's nurse, Jean Dittmann.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass, Friday, April 4, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2118 Main St, Spring Grove, IL. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
