Carolyn J. McGuire (nee Welnicke), 76, of McHenry, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.  She was born November 26, 1946, in Chicago, to the late Raymond and Stephanie (nee Polchlopek) Welnicke.

She was a 1965 graduate of Tuley High School.  Carolyn worked for many years at Baxter as a lab technician and Intermatic, where she held many different positions.  She was a very loving, giving, and creative person who enjoyed swimming, flower gardening, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special affection for all animals. Most of all she enjoyed preparing meals for, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" McGuire; children, Diane (Cole) Hoschouer, David (Pamela) Gagnon, Donna (Harry) Giovanni; grandchildren, Taylor (Cheyn) and Shae (Sam Billig) Giovanni; and great-grandson, Oak Giovanni;

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by brother, Leonard "Lenny" Welnicke.

Visitation Wednesday, March 8, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Burial will follow in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
