Carol R. Nelson-Krueger, of Round Lake, peacefully passed away at home Friday, December 8, 2023.  She was born in Elgin, September 12, 1954, to the late Obal "Elmer" and Kathleen (nee Long) Nelson.

Carol grew up in Wauconda and attended Wauconda High School.  She went on to earn a degree from College of Lake County.  Carol worked for Abbott/Abbvie where she had been a systems analyst.  She previously worked at Motorola in Libertyville and Harvard, Anchor Glass in Gurnee, and Ball Brothers in Mundelein. She was active at Heritage Church, Round Lake, where she enjoyed Bible studies.  Carol also had a great love for cats.

Survivors include her significant other, Robert "Bob" Krueger of Ingleside; sisters, Mary Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, Peggy Ruscitti of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Patricia (Ernest) Slavik of Antioch; nephews and nieces, Adam Wohlbrandt of Phoenix, AZ, Ladine (Greg) Hampton of Glendale, AZ, Chalene (Donald) Graham of Mesa, AZ, Mellissa Doyle of Halstad, MN, Kelly (Erik) Backe of Trevor, WI, and Ernest Slavik IV; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and by many other loving extended family members.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 19, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in East Fox Lake Cemetery, Lake Villa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carol's name to Save-A-Pet Grayslake or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital appreciated.
