Carol Ann Sylvester (nee Gendusa), 77, of Spring Grove, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at JourneyCare, Barrington.  She was born March 20, 1946, in Chicago, to the late Samuel and Antoinette (nee Piscitello) Gendusa.

Carol Ann grew up in Fox Lake and was a 1964 graduate of Grant Community High School.  She went on to obtain her elementary-school teaching degree from Whitewater College, and taught at a nursery school in Fox Lake prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom.  Carol Ann enjoyed traveling and scuba diving around the world.  She had a great love for all animals, especially her dogs: Peppy, Cleine, Shadow, and Cocoa, and regularly supported many animal charities.

Survivors include her beloved son, John Sylvester; special cousins, Yolanda, Linda, Sharon Ann, and many other cousins; dear sisters-in-law, Karin Jenkins, Yvonne Sylvester, and Anna "Maly" Henkel; and many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T.E. Sylvester on September 30, 2022; and by her parents.

Memorial visitation Saturday, October 21, from 11 a.m. until the memorial service at 1 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
