Bryan Thomas Schmoldt, 45, of Lake in the Hills, formerly of Fox Lake, died unexpectedly December 30, 2016, while vacationing in Mercer, WI.
Born July 12, 1971, in Chicago, and raised in Fox Lake, Bryan graduated from Grant Community High School where he was a standout on the football team, and went on to graduate from Lake County College. He began his construction career with Fojtik Construction, moving on to Oakwood Construction, before starting his own company, C & S Carpentry in 2010, with business partner David Campbell . He was an excellent carpenter having built many of the custom homes in the area including his parents' home in Spring Grove.
Bryan was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and golfing with his buddies, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling, and going to Wisconsin Dells with Mandy and her children. He loved spending time with his son and visiting him at his college at ASU.
He is survived by his son, Tristan J. Schmoldt; parents, Rose I. (nee Alicea) and John G. Schmoldt; sister, Rebecca Klotter; nephews, Austin R. and Hunter J. Klotter; niece, Taylor R. Klotter; fiancée, Mandy Rosenmayer to whom he had gotten engaged at Christmas; Mandy's children, Madyson and Cade Rosenmayer; maternal grandmother, Helen Alicea; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
Bryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and LaVilla Schmoldt; maternal grandfather, Iluminado Alicea; and uncle, Thomas W. Schmoldt.
The visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, from 3-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 5, at St. Bede Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside. All are invited to go directly to the church. Interment will be private.
