Barbara Papacek, 98, formerly of Fox Lake and Clearwater, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Acadia Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Riverhead, NY.

She was born November 23, 1917, in Chicago, to the late Joseph and Rose (nee Bicek) Rada.  She married the late Stephen Papacek on December 23, 1939.

Prior to moving to New York, Barbara was a member of the Fox Lake Community Church, Northwood Presbyterian Church in Florida, Antioch Moose Lodge #735, Doral Women's Club, and the Czechoslovak Cultural Center of St. Petersburg, FL.  She retired from Grant Community High School, where she had been a food handler.

Survivors include her children, Ernest (Donna) Papacek of  Lakeville, MN, and Kathleen Chojnacki of Riverhead; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sibling Carolyn Jakopin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by sisters, Rose Capek and Eleanor Agnich; brothers Joseph and Edward Rada; brothers-in-law, Joseph Agnich and Robert Jakopin;  sister-in-laws, Beatrice Rada and Marie Rada; and son-in-law, Kenneth Chojnacki.

The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  Burial will follow in East Fox Lake Cemetery, Lake Villa.
