Thomas
Sep 12, 1944 — Jul 9, 2026
Anne Louise Thomas (nee Morrissey), 81, of Ingleside, IL, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026. She was born September 12, 1944, in Boston, MA, to the late Robert and Alice (nee Rogers) Morrissey. Anne was the beloved wife of almost 58 years of William “Bill” Thomas, who preceded her in death.
Anne was the beloved mother of Michael W. (Jennifer) Thomas and Megan (Ryan) Carney; cherished Grammie of Maggie and Katie Thomas and Kami and Will Carney; dear sister to Robert (Terrie Johnson) Morrissey and Cheryl (Paul) Cummings; she is further survived by sister-in-law, Eleanor (the late Dallas) Knight; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Anne graduated from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, Brockton, MA and provided compassionate care for her patients for many years. When she moved with her family to Illinois, she took time away from nursing to become a stay-at-home mom. She threw the best birthday parties and was often the “room mom” for her kids’ classrooms. She eventually served on the Big Hollow School Board in Ingleside. She returned to nursing when her kids were older and was the school nurse at Antioch High School until she retired. Anne was a talented violinist who was the concert master at the Dedham Youth Orchestra in MA and was a long-time member of the Chain of Lakes Orchestra in Illinois, where she served as president. She was an avid horse jumper with her horse Pooh Bear. She loved to collect fabric and occasionally sewed and had a life-long love of the beaches on Cape Cod, MA where she spent summers as a child and vacations with her family as an adult. She also loved collecting shells and sharks’ teeth in Venice, FL.
What Anne loved most of all was spending time with her children and grandchildren, watching countless track and cross-country meets, softball, volleyball, baseball, football, basketball and soccer games, tennis matches and] rhythmic gymnastics events. She took care of everyone and was everyone’s biggest cheerleader.
