Zaremba, Jr.
August 6, 1939 – November 21, 2024
Aloysious "Al" Zaremba, Jr., 85, of Lakemoor, formerly of Pistakee Highlands, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Alden Terrace of McHenry. He was born August 6, 1939, in Chicago, to the late Aloysious Sr. and Veronica (nee Lapinski) Zaremba.
Al worked for over 40 years as a certified mechanic at Rouse's Auto Repair in Libertyville. He was a jack-of-all trades who could not only repair autos and golf carts but also reupholster motorhome interiors and build just about anything. Al traveled extensively with his family and enjoyed owning a variety of campers, trailers, and motorhomes. In his free time, Al enjoyed tinkering and building things, fishing on the Chain, boating, and smoking a good cigar. He also served as a past Boy Scout leader for his sons' Johnsburg troop. Most of all, Al had a great love for his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne (nee Rak) Zaremba; children, Daniel (Jodi nee Beutel) Zaremba, Anthony (Nina nee Zangara), and Veronica (Scott) Moore; grandchildren, Troy, William, Drew, and Isabella Zaremba, Julianna (Minh) Nguyen, Gina (Joe) Acino, and Mackenzie and Skylar Moore; great-grandsons, Joseph and Luca Acino; sister, Alyce Gilbertsen; sister-in-law, Linda Zaremba; and many nieces, neighbors, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by grandson, Jimmy Blasucci; sister, Diane Zaremba; and brother, Thomas Zaremba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg. Private interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al's name to the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Foundation, 1721 North Blvd., Houston, TX 77098 , or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 .
