Alberta Ann "Bertie" Miller (nee Kanthack) age 86
A lifetime resident of Ingleside, and former Grant Township Supervisor died Fri. Jan 16, 2009 in Wauconda, Il. She was born on May 21, 1922 in Chicago to Albert C. and Antoinette (nee Brunner) Kanthack and was united in marriage on June 6, 1942 to Robert E. Miller Jr. at St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside. She was employed for her book keeping and secretarial skills with the Gavin School district, Fox Lake School district and later for Grant Twp. She served as the Grant Twp. Assistant Supervisor during Harry Robins administration, and became supervisor in 1979 until her retirement in 1991. During her tenure the Molidor Rd. property was purchased and plans were drawn up for the future 'Field of Dreams" complex. The new township office as well as the new Fire Station sit on this site today. She was active in the Grant Township Republican Club, the Fox Lake Garden Club, The Lakes Region American Legion Womens Auxillary Post 703 of Fox Lake, Wings (Women in Government), St. Bede Church and Ladies Sodality, and was a Gold Star Mother. She was sighted at the Christmas Breakfasts, and many Fox Lake Community events as Mrs. Klaus , was a great supporter of the Grant Twp. Food Pantry and gave her time and talents in areas to numerous to mention. She had great love and a caring heart for her family, friends and her community. She will be dearly missed by her children: Patricia (Warren) Dahn of Huntley , Thomas (Kathleen) Miller of Crystal Lake, Bruce (Cynthia) Miller of Libertyville, Michael (Patricia) Miller of Spring Grove, Daniel (Jeanette) Miller of Fox Lake.
Grandchildren: Eric, Melinda, Michelle, Bridgid, Erin, Shannon, Nathan, Lauren and Justin , and Great Grandchildren Amy and Evan.
Sister-in-law Shirley Kanthack of Burlington,Wi., and by many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Staff Sgt. Robert E. Miller III who was killed in action in Viet Nam on Jan. 31, 1968, her husband Robert E. Miller Jr. on June 18, 1989 , her brother Charles J. Kanthack, her sister Cecelia Greissinger, and brother-in-law Paul Greissinger.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wed. at St. Bede Church 36455 N. Wilson Rd. Ingleside, Il. 60041
Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
